eXperience, eMedia's Second Attempt At Reviving The eRewind Channel

eRewind was a TV channel eMedia Investments had conceived to offer programming viewed on eMedia's other platforms. It was a pure nostalgia channel as seen with the ePlesier channel that capitalised on content consumed by viewers over the years.

This would comprise of previous seasons if not older programming from eMedia's other platforms. This would include local dramas such as Rhythm City and Backstage alongside international series like NCIS: Los Angeles and Family Feud.

It was as a hangout spot for viewers who wanted to reminisce about older times and forget about their busy lives. It also helped viewers catch-up on shows that they have could have missed during their initial broadcast on eMedia's other platforms.

This was basically the company's first attempt at launching an SABC Encore typed channel. Just like all fallen heroes, the channel began to experience viewer fatigue which resulted in the launch of eXposed (which rebranded to eSeries).

Even though eRewind was a touch and go process this lineup continues to surface on eMedia's existing offering. Following the inception of Openview Stream, the Rewind concept had been revived as eXperience for viewers in outside of South Africa.

Canal+'s MultiChoice once used Zambezi Magic very much like eXperience to give viewers in other countries an open window to shows from the SABC. Before this was phased out to offer original and first run programming from Zambia.

It wouldn't surprise me if eMedia Investments decided they no longer see any use for it or looked to eventually debut eXperience on the Openview platform as seen with eXplore.

In recent years, eMedia Investments had shown a lot more appreciation for these type of shows with dedicated slots on e.tv and eExtra. So again the idea of eXperience launching on Openview wouldn't seem that far fetched a stretch.

The only problems with such channels would be reception on Openview because with these existing slots on e.tv and eExtra, viewers are bound to be annoyed by them as seen with ePlesier and eExtra.

They're also the channels which often generate smaller rates amongst advertisers and usually by slotting them on e.tv, broadcasters can get better rates. This is because the overall viewing for a premier channel is higher than one used for reruns.

100 Days To Fall In Love Review: Another Garbage Melodrama From Telemundo

100 Días Para Enamorarnos (English: 100 Days To Fall In Love) is an American comedy drama television series that premiered on Telemundo on 28 April 2020. It serves an an adaptation of the Argentine telenovela 100 días para enamorarse.

The problem with this show would have to be how the writers choose to handle a lot of the characters. Before, I can elaborate further as to what I mean by all this, I believe I should brief you in about this show and why its awful.

Synopsis on 100 Days To Fall In Love

The story revolves around two good friends, Constanza Franco (Ilse Salas), a very sophisticated and successful lawyer, in addition to mother and wife; and to Remedios Rivera (Mariana Treviño), in the shoes of Mariana Treviño, also a loving mother and wife, but who, unlike her friend, is a free spirit who cannot keep her life in order. Both women decide to end 20 years of marriage with their respective husbands. Remedios's life is complicated when she decides to separate from her current husband and her first love reappears. Meanwhile, Constanza agrees with her husband to take a 100-day break. Once the 100 days are up, they will have to decide whether to keep the marriage or not.

Here's where a lot of things go from bad to worse

The show is normalizing infidelity and this comes after Constanza finds out about her husband's affair. Instead of the couple seeking therapy or getting a divorce, the husband gives her the greenlight to have third parties in their marriage.

These two have respective careers and children yet they act like children themselves or in this case teenagers. I'm not saying people haven't made dumb decisions before but if you look the show's demographic a majority are married with families.

If you're not Constanza and Plutarco, you want to illustrate the perfect marriage this doesn't mean there won't be disagreements. But the point to a marriage especially when there's a disagreement is to compromise, not to normalize infidelity.

Let's not get started on some of their other characters such as Remedios and Emiliano who are the best friends of these characters. These two are long lost love interests who very much like other characters are moving from one ship to the next.

They have a transgender son and one of the biggest highlights to this show is LGBTQ representation. I've watched plenty of content with LGBTQ representation and I'll be honest here, they're also dragging this community to the mud.

Remember when Sam Smith released his album Gloria and you had some outlets mention that he was promoting pornographic material. Let me tell you whoever said that definitely did not watch 100 Days To Fall In Love when it aired on Telemundo.

A majority of the graphic scenes was noticeable there I just found it interesting how Telemundo was able to get away with its broadcast times. This is a type of show I wouldn't let my children watch much less my own parents.

But it's not the worst show on the planet, if I was able to sit down and watch the entire season, all I'm saying is this show is for much younger audience think South Park. If there's anyone that can tolerate a show it might be a fan of South Park.

Where does South Park broadcast you may ask?

Comedy Central which is for an entirely different audience and I'm a viewer of both networks. Ask yourself how many viewers that browse shows like Fearless Heart, Part Of Me and Aurora would watch something like Ugly Americans and South Park.

How To Add An All-In-One Posts Widget With A Banner On Blogger?

In the last few months, I've been doing some cleaning up for my blogger site, looking at ways to offer more to my readers without cluttering the layout of my site and having my widgets compete for traffic so I introduce to you my all-in-one posts widget.

I call it this because I am able to link three RSS feeds and have my posts display based on these 3 links. I've been blogging for years and trying to figure the best post widget for my readers be it a recent, random or related posts widget so I feel this widget answers all my questions.

This widget focuses on the most recent posts seeing as they incorporate RSS and I set mine to 24 posts and each time only 3 posts load. Rather than linking it to all my posts I prefer linking certain URLs as I feel this would be the perfect way to get readers to explore more of my site.

I got this widget with the sole purpose of promoting my static pages which is where this banner comes in. Similar to the posts widget, I get multiple images with links to load randomly as this would help give these pages more visibility.

Could Canal+'s MultiChoice Look To Possibly Debut eReality In Place Of Moja 9.9. Perhaps?

Moja 9.9. serves as a spin-off to the current Moja Love which is also operated by Siyaya TV. What this channel has been doing in the last 5 years was giving DStv Access consumers an open window to shows like Start Somewhere and Rea Tsotella.

The name of the Moja 9.9 channel spin-off derives from the slang word "moja" meaning "everything is good" while the "9.9" means confronting truth, similar to the hugely popular Uyajola 99 cheater-tabloid reality show.

Not long ago, it was announced that Canal+'s MultiChoice will be restructuring their DStv packages giving viewers of Moja 9.9. access to Moja Love under DStv Starter package. The company hasn't addressed their plans for Moja 9.9.

In recent months, MultiChoice had been dumping various repeat padded channels including Magic Showcase and Mzansi Bioskop. The idea was to offer this lineup on fewer brands so whose to say the same fate won't await a brand like Moja 9.9.

Unlike Magic Showcase and KykNET Lekker, Moja 9.9. was performing exceptionally well pulling over 100,000 viewers. While there's reasons to believe that maybe Moja 9.9. might stick around, these changes question their viability.

By migrating viewers to Moja Love, this channel is expected to draw in much larger consumer numbers and would divert further attention away from Moja 9.9. which places it in a very precarious position.

MultiChoice had also been test running eMedia's eReality channel on the platform which rivals with Moja Love by offering shows like Stena Redemption and Beef. It also boasts international series like My Kitchen Rules Australia and Wipeout.

Could it be that eReality is set to replace Moja 9.9.?

Both channels carry a very similar background while they do boast some local flavour a majority of their content is viewed on other DStv channels. Although for eReality, there are some exceptions such as Auction Hunters and MasterChef Australia.

This is one of three TV channels the company is alleged to be rolling out soon with other including France24, 3ABN Africa and eSeries. It had also been reported that test cards had been spotted in CineMagic and Magic Showcase frequency.

Although there's no official launch date, it wouldn't surprise me if these channels launched around the time some of these changes took affect.

Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together premieres on Bravo Africa (DStv 124) with two-episodes launching on 6 September at 7PM. New episodes follow every Sunday, culminating in a two-part season finale on 11 October 2026.

Dino Ranch: Island Explorers Premieres On Cartoonito Africa This September

The ranch gates are opening onto something wilder, brighter and bigger than ever before as Cartoonito launches Dino Ranch: Island Explorers, a vibrant new preschool adventure. Premiering 14 September 2026 on Cartoonito Africa, available on DStv channel 302, the spin-off follows the Cassidy siblings and their dino pals to Dino Island, a dazzling world of mysterious creatures, daring discoveries and roarsome new challenges.

Building on the phenomenal success of Dino Ranch, on air since 2021, which captured the hearts of preschoolers globally, Dino Ranch: Island Explorers continues this legacy, adding fresh challenges and new dinosaur friends. The original series follows Bo and Jo Cassidy and their three children, Jon, Min and Miguel, as they navigate life in a ‘pre-westoric’ world where dinosaurs still roam. It has sold internationally in more than 170 countries and in 15 languages worldwide.

In this new spin-off series, the Cassidy kids are saddling up for the adventure of a lifetime, setting their sights on the legendary Dino Island - a world brimming with undiscovered dinosaurs, mysterious locales, and non-stop excitement. Together they join their Uncle Jack at Dino Explorer’s Headquarters, where they help protect the island, face daring missions and outwit cunning villains. The series aligns with Cartoonito's promise of playful, positive storytelling, combining humour, teamwork and adventure for young kids and families.

In an exclusive interview for South Africa, executive story editor and writer Alan Gregg said the new setting was designed to expand the Dino Ranch world without losing what fans love most: “We were conscious not to completely reinvent the show, but we wanted to create assets that would engage viewers even more.” He adds that Dino Island gives the Cassidy kids “more agency and control over their own destiny”, allowing the young heroes to take on challenges for themselves while bringing warmth, energy and humour to every adventure.

Dino Ranch: Island Explorers will air across Africa with 52 x 11-minute episodes, ready to take families on this whirlwind adventure. Combining colourful 3D animation with imaginative storytelling, the series takes young audiences beyond the ranch as the Cassidy siblings uncover new worlds, new dinosaurs and plenty of laughs along the way.

New DStv Packages Alongside Wethu+ Set To Launch In South Africa By September 17

Canal+'s MultiChoice will not only be axing be KykNET Lekker and 3 other TV channels on their DStv platforms by September 16. But are also planning to completely replace the current structural layout of their packages.

Now we can confirm the following changes to each individual package from September 17:

DStv Access becomes DStv Starter

MultiChoice had axed various TV channels on this package in the last few months including KykNET Lekker, Mzansi Bioskop and Mzansi Music. Now under DStv Starter, consumers will be getting access to KykNET & Kie, Moja Love and Via.

Mzansi Wethu is also being rebranded to Wethu+ to give budget-conscious viewers a significantly better experience without requiring a pricier package. It will continue to feature content from Mzansi Magic while also offering a live football segment.

It is a core feature on the Starter package (R99/pm).

DStv Family and DStv Compact merge to form DStv Select

This will serve as the middle class package serving as the premier destination for local and family entertainment. Under this package, consumers will continue to view PSL, Mzansi Magic and Nickelodeon alongside the new Wethu+.

DStv Compact consumers will get basically nothing.

DStv Family consumers will be getting additional channels that had already been on DStv Compact this would include M Movies Stars, BBC Brit, Africa Magic Showcase and Food Network. While the overall package will be priced at R299p/m.

DStv Compact+ becomes two separate packages

DStv Sports is being positioned as the ideal destination for various sporting events including SA20, Premier League and ISL. This package is expected to select entertainment from Mzansi Magic and the upcoming M Movies+ channel.

This will be priced at R399p/m.

DStv Movies & Series is basically DStv Premium without the sports as it gives consumers an open window to M-Net's international series alongside the upcoming M Movies+ channel. It is also said to feature select sporting events which is PSL.

This will be priced at R500p/m.

DStv Premium remains unhinged with no word on DStv Easyview

Judging by the setup of DStv Compact+, it appears that DStv Premium is basically offering a discount to those who wish to subscribe to both Movies & Series alongside Sports. Initially, it was valued at R929 per month now it dropped to R800 p/m.

To most DStv consumers that is still expensive but then again it's a drop in rates as seen with DStv Family and Compact packages.

As for DStv Easyview on the other hand, MultiChoice doesn't mention anything about it and considering that DStv Access is known as Starter. I wouldn't be shocked if it got discontinued considering how depriortised it's been in recent months.

New channels on the cards

Not yet official but MultiChoice is expected to be rolling out 4 TV channels including France24, 3ABN Africa (allegedly), eMedia's eReality and eSeries channels. There's also word of two channels coming in place of CineMagic and Magic Showcase.

France24 is a premier, state-owned international news and current affairs television network based in Paris, France. Similar to BBC News or Al Jazeera, it delivers rolling global news coverage, breaking headlines, sports roundups, and cultural talk shows.

3ABN Africa is a global, non-profit Christian lifestyle television network. It broadcasts 24-hour religious programming, including Seventh-day Adventist sermons, Bible studies, gospel music, and family-focused healthy living/cooking shows.

eSeries focuses completely on scripted television dramas, comedies, and telenovelas. It acts as a catch-up or marathon viewing destination for both popular local South African soap operas and foreign drama series.

eReality is a highly popular commercial entertainment channel owned and operated by South African media group eMedia Investments. It broadcasts popular international and local reality series, medical and competitive talent shows.

Disney Junior (Jr.) Was Initially Pitched As Disney Kids

Disney Jr. is a preschool oriented channel operated by The Walt Disney Company that features content catered for children aged 3 to 6 years. It is home to various shows including Doc McStuffins, Sofia The First, PJ Masks and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

In 1997, the channel first started out as a preschool block known as Disney Channel Little Kids before rebranding to Playhouse Disney in 1999. When a TV channel was first announced it was under the working title, Disney Kids.

Because Disney Channel Little Kids and Playhouse Disney weren't in Africa at the time. It was both SABC and M-Net through its K-TV brand that introduced these brands. MultiChoice was only able to follow up with a TV channel in 2011/2.

Coincidentally, The newly minted Disney Junior block officially replaced Playhouse Disney on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2011, with the standalone 24-hour channel following in 2012.

The only reason they chose to call it Disney Jr. was to properly align it's demographic with Nick Jr. The word "Junior" was a proper way the company was able to identify it's demographic which is basically between the toddler and preteen bracket.

Disney Kids was too broad of a trademark to use on a preschool channel and besides that they had already used this trademark for its global retails and merchandise. It could as well have been the name for their division of children channels or programs.

Disney executives, including then-Disney Channels Worldwide President Carolina Lightcap, wanted the new name to emphasize "multi-generational" storytelling. The word "Junior" not only connected them to preschoolers but their families as well.

Disney Kids felt more like PBS Kids and Disney wanted to carve out its own distinct identity. By using "Junior", viewers already know what to expect from the channel rather than "Kids" which could as well have been Disney Channel without live-action.
