Canal+'s MultiChoice Rumoured To Also Be Adding eMedia's eReality Channel To DStv

After reports had resurfaced that eMedia's eSeries channel may be looking to rollout on the DStv platform soon. It appears that Canal+'s MultiChoice will also be adding eReality to their platforms as a test card has recently been spotted on the platform.

eMedia Investments already distributes eExtra, eToonz, eMovies and eMovies Extra to DStv and with inclusions of eReality and eSeries this would bring number of channels from 4 to 6. It also means ePlesier is the only exclusive channel to Openview.

eReality is a general entertainment brand that offers series ranging from reality, lifestyle, food and doccies. This would include shows like Couple's Court With The Cutlers, MTV's Fear Factor and Wipeout USA basically shows from e.tv.

Other than that, there's also other shows that I believe other DStv consumers will view such as My Kitchen Rules Australia and Auction Hunters. Compared to eSeries, this channel will definitely benefit other consumers.

As some consumers remember, a couple years back MultiChoice and M-Net decided to shutter Me and 1Magic and consolidated those offerings under M-Net and the now defunct Showmax brand. This led affected consumers to miss out on certain shows.

eReality offers some of that lost content while repetitive, its not as depressing as eSeries.

MultiChoice will also be axing Mzansi Bioskop, Mzansi Music, M-Net Movies 1 and KykNET Lekker from 16 September. There's reason to believe that both these channels alongside France24 and likely 3ABN Africa will debut around the same period.

With eMovies and eMovies Extra sitting on channels 138 and 140, I wouldn't be surprised if eSeries and eReality took up channels 141 and 142. It's not like MultiChoice has been using that space for much and outside of KykNET it's only been repeats.

MultiChoice has been developing TV channels in place of CineMagic and Magic Showcase, and similar to eMedia's channels I'm expecting for these upcoming additions to be padded with old content.

Canal+ is making several cuts at MultiChoice and further additions such as Novelas+ and Sporty TV had catered for its DStv Access consumers. While sports has been the focus on higher end packages with the inclusion of SuperSport Extra 2.
