France24 English And Possible Spanish Now Looking To Possibly Debut In Canal+'s MultiChoice Territories

Canal+ Distribution (formerly) had been distributing it's France24 English channel to eMedia's Openview platforms in South Africa. Following the buyout of MultiChoice by the French media giant, Canal+ had been integrating it's services onto DStv.

Last month, Novelas+ made a successful debut on MultiChoice platforms across with France24 English set to be next channel on these platforms.

France 24 is a French state-owned international 24-hour news channel which forms part of France’s international public broadcasting group alongside RFI (radio) and Monte Carlo Doualiya. It offers four separate feeds: French, English, Arabic, and Spanish.

France 24’s programming is built around continuous international news with a French perspective, interspersed with short reports, debates, magazines, and cultural features. This would include French Connections, Paris Des Arts and The Debate.

Although it has been regarded as a news channel, France24 English carries a similar structure to NHK World Japan by fusing this lineup with short to medium form magazine shows and lifestyle.
As stated, MultiChoice is looking to debut the channel on more DStv platforms and it's likely to also come with Spanish feed as seen with Novelas+ while the French one had already been picked up.

It's unclear on which package and channel number France24 will be allocated on but I wouldn't be shocked if it took Russia Today's channel number. If not grouped in the areas taken up by either Africanews or NHK World Japan.

In other developments, MultiChoice will be closing four TV channels: KykNET Lekker, Mzansi Bioskop, Mzansi Music and M-Net Movies 1. They're also looking to debut two other channels one with a Magic Showcase card with another from 3ABN.
