With the removal of these channels, this meant the only other alternatives for local content on those packages would be provincial and regional channels like SABC 1-3 and Soweto TV. By adding these channels, it made these packages look competitive.
It appears that Canal+ might be working on another TV channel(s) to possibly replace Magic Showcase and CineMagic. As test cards for these channels are on their i-Plate with the CineMagic one seen in Southern Africa.
If I had to guess it's likely some African infused entertainment channel(s) I mean the idea wouldn't be far fetched. As MultiChoice did put up test cards for MTV Base earlier in the year before unveiling its replacement channel being Base Pulse.
The Rooms Network had mentioned that they're developing additional channels at MultiChoice. With them offering Newzroom Afrika (news), Play Room (kids) and Movie Room (movies), the only thing missing would be a general entertainment brand.
If not The Rooms Network, it could as well be a TV channel from Canal+ Distribution such as A+ or an English feed to Canal+ Magic. Then there's also Pulse Entertainment that is being led by Paramount Africa's former employees.
Unlike Magic Showcase which was available to DStv Easyview and Access, this channel(s) will most likely be available to more consumers. Of course what's uncertain is if this channel will be available on DStv Easyview with it being depriortised.
