Paramount May Look To Cut Programming On Cartoon Network And Cartoonito

Paramount is currently in the process of trying to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery with the deal expected to finalised later in the year. This would bring two rival brands such as Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network under the same ownership.

Not long ago, Nickelodeon Animation Studios was folded under CBS Studios as it's live-action department forms Paramount Television Studios. It mirrors a similar move made by Cartoon Network Studios with Warner Bros. Animation.

While this would issue that the possible merged company would continue commissioning separate projects. This doesn't serve as a safeguard for the company's linear networks.

Even if Paramount isn't looking to close or spinoff any of its current or possible new assets. They're going to find other areas to cut and they could as well target the regional and third party shows on Cartoon Network and Cartoonito.

Let's be honest here, Cartoon Network and Cartoonito have too many from Lana Longbeard, Goat Girl, Submarine Jim, Pokémon, Grizzy And The Lemmings, Mr. Bean and Zig & Sharko. Under Paramount, they could look to reduce that slate.

If you look at Nickelodeon and Nick Jr., it's been more reliant on content from its own studios which is where Cartoon Network and Cartoonito may be heading soon.

I guess the question after all of this would be what Paramount has planned for Cartoonito I mean they could revert it back to Boomerang. I mean they would be acquiring the company that gave it's streaming service 3 different names in 5-7 years.

They would be owning both Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon which I think they'll keep as they generate for them revenue. But for Cartoonito, it never took off in the US and Paramount could rely solely on Nick Jr. for further preschool shows.

That doesn't mean Cartoonito will ceast to exist again with it's linear footprint I'd imagine they'd want to keep that but stuff like Hey BMO and Batwheels might get picked up for Nick Jr.

TLC Introduces ‘Little Singles’, A New Relationship Series About Love, Friendship, And Life Without Limits Across Africa

TLC introduces LITTLE SINGLES, a new relationship series that follows a vibrant, tight-knit group of little people for a rare opportunity to date, connect, and build community. Reuniting in Palm Springs after first meeting at a Little People convention, and maintaining close friendships ever since, the group embarks on a shared getaway where they can live freely, without judgment, and where friendships deepen and sparks fly. The new series premieres on Wednesday, 1 July at 21:00 on DStv channel 135.

Living in an average-sized world comes with daily challenges, from accessibility and social stigma to dating and self-confidence. In this house, everyone is on equal footing, creating a space where they can fully be themselves. What begins as a carefree getaway among friends quickly evolves into a chosen‑family experience. With a mix of personalities, relationship histories, and different forms of dwarfism, the group explores what love, honesty, and truly belonging really mean.

John (28) is the heart and glue of the house, confident that his close bond with Stephanie (32) and Sammy (26), their self-proclaimed tribe, the “Three Amigos,” is unbreakable. But what John doesn’t know is that Stephanie, known for her big personality and even bigger heart, and Sammy, a loud and magnetic presence who thrives as the life of the party, are secretly involved. Stephanie is looking for something real, while Sammy avoids labels, creating tension beneath the surface. When sparks fly between Sammy and Krista (30), the charismatic “princess” of the group, a love triangle emerges, putting friendships at risk. Alongside them is JJ (37), a bold and fearless lifelong performer who returns to Palm Springs after a past relationship, ready to open herself up to love again while bringing an unapologetic energy to the house.

“At TLC, we’re always looking for real stories with real heart, and this circle of friends delivers,” said Alon Orstein, Head of Content, TLC. “LITTLE SINGLES follows a group with history and incredible chemistry, and the result is a series that feels fresh, fun, and deeply relatable.”

At its core, LITTLE SINGLES is about connection: celebrating friendships that have stood the test of time while exploring how love can strengthen them, challenge them, and sometimes change them forever.

Don’t miss the drama, the heart, and the unexpected twists when LITTLE SINGLES premieres on Wednesday, 1 July at 21:00 on TLC, DStv channel 135.

Another International Channel On DStv Might Be Getting Demolished Soon

Last year, Comcast's NBCUniversal decided to spin out a majority of its cable networks under the entity, Versant. This led to the demise of Universal Kids which served as the American variant of DreamWorks Channel.

Another change that was brought to viewer's attention was the sudden removal and discontinuation of kids programming on Peacock.

Very much like Showmax, Peacock was burning a lot of cash to produce shows like Where's Waldo, Trollstopia and The Croods: A New Age. We can only assume NBCUniversal made various cuts which affected the show's lineup on the streaming service.

They retained existing licensing deals with Netflix for shows like Mighty MonsterWheelies and The Bad Guys: The Series with Bearbrick on Apple TV+.

As for the linear networks that too is also getting the hammer as it was discontinued by Bein (MENA) and Asian providers like SkyCable, Astro and Blast TV. It continues to operate in Africa (through DStv) and select Asian providers like Unifi TV and Starhub TV.

Then again remaining feeds for these channels are kind of in a delicate state if you look at past examples like BET, CBS Reality and so forth. This channel is in a zombified state leaning towards reruns of All Hail King Julien and Boss Baby.

After Comcast decided to spin off NBCUniversal I think the goal had shifted to core assets which are Telemundo, NBC and Bravo.

The only reason Universal TV and Studio Universal remain on air to me is because they offer plenty of ad revenue. A majority of their audience is reliant on linear television unlike DreamWorks Channel which had to compete with YouTube and TikTok.

This licensing deal NBCUniversal has with Netflix and Apple TV+ implies to me that the company might be restructuring and leaning towards these companies. With the DreamWorks Channel being managed within Asia eyed as another disposable.

eExtra's Kuiertyd Makes Yet Another Adjustment To It's Weeknight Schedule

Following news of inception of Skree Dit Uit on eExtra, the broadcaster took it upon itself to once again adjust its weeknight schedule in preparation of the show. This includes serving an additional slot to Maanligsprokie and ousting Naagin.

As illustrated above from 22 June: Bittersoet (15:00), Bloedspoor (16:00, R), Kelders Van Geheime (17:00, R), Skree Dit Uit (17:30), Yosef (18:30), Kelders Van Geheime (19:30), Een Wit Leuen (20:00), Maanligsprokie (21:00, R), Bloedspoor (22:00) and Fenix (23:00).

eExtra once used its 23:00 timeslot to promote other shows outside of Kuiertyd like India: A Love Story and Naagin and now they're burning them off to weekday mornings and late nights. We can only assume these shows are being depriortised.

Interesting to note, e.tv added Law And Order: Special Victims Unit following the conclusion of the Impak rebroadcast. This is clear indication that eMedia Investments is reconfiguring it's lineup and scaling back Kuiertyd repeats on the channel.

These efforts have since been redirected to eExtra as seen with the launch of Fenix at 23:00 and ePlesier with it's 7 day offering.

Skree Dit Uit, Brand New Youth Drama Launches On eExtra

eExtra, a general entertainment channel offering Afrikaans dubbed Turkish dramas has announced the addition of new series, Skree Dit Uit. Known in Turkey as Duy Beni, the series airs daily on eExtra at 17:30 from 22 June replacing Sout Van Die Aarde.

It starred Rabia Soytürk as Ekim, İbrahim Yıldız as Dağhan Kara, Caner Topçu as Kanat Günay, Helin Kandemir as Leyla Pınar, Sümeyye Aydoğan as Melisa Gerçek and Meltem Akçöl Hazal Demir.

Synopsis for Skree Dit Uit

The story begins in a humble, working-class neighborhood in Istanbul. Best friends Ekim and Leyla are ordinary teenagers who have spent their lives looking from the outside in at the ultra-rich families of the neighborhood. One morning, a horrific tref-en-trap (hit-and-run) accident occurs right in front of Ekim's eyes. A car hits Leyla, leaving her permanently paralyzed and bound to a wheelchair.

The only clue Ekim has is that the driver wore a mysterious mask. The car flees the scene and vanishes into the parking lot of Gerçek High School, a prestigious private academy exclusively for the city’s elite children.

As public outrage grows and the working-class community demands justice, the wealthy administration of Gerçek High School takes steps to bury the scandal. To soften the community's fury and shield their wealthy students from police scrutiny, the school principal offers three full-ride scholarships to studious teenagers from Leyla’s neighborhood.

Ekim, Bekir, and Ayşe are selected to attend.

While Bekir and Ayşe see this as an escape from poverty, Ekim accepts the scholarship with one singular, dangerous goal: to find the masked driver.

Once inside, the scholarship trio discovers that the school operates under a toxic hierarchy ruled by the wealthiest, most sadistic teenagers. Led by Kanat and a ruthless girl named Melisa, the rich students subject the new outsiders to psychological and physical torment to force them to drop out.

As Ekim continuously stands up to the bullies, Kanat becomes deeply intrigued by her resilience. Their mutual hostility slowly transforms into a highly complicated, dangerous attraction. This infuriates Melisa, who will stop at nothing to ruin Ekim.
