Canal+'s MultiChoice Reportedly Developing A SuperSport Liyu Replacement Channel

SuperSport Liyu was discontinued over a year ago after Canal+'s MultiChoice and SuperSport opted not to renew it's agreement for Ethiopian Premier League. Since then, this sporting event had been distributed on other platforms in the region.

Now it looks like MultiChoice may be looking to replace SuperSport Liyu as a test card for a SuperSport Swahili had been spotted. This comes after the company had revamped it's SuperSport Variety offering during the month.

At the moment these tests are still in the early stages but from what we can see it features Premier League and La Liga. These were one of the premier matches of the former SuperSport Liyu so this appears to be a revival of some sort.

What remains unclear is whether MultiChoice intends to licence Ethiopian Premier League but from the looks of these tests it appears they'll be offering Swahili commentary to its current lineup.

They're also looking to rollout France24 English and possibly 3ABN International or Africa in the coming months. While a replacement to the defunct Magic Showcase channel is in development as a test card had been spotted within the region.
