A taste of the best DStv has to offer
This is what MultiChoice wants to describe their successor for DStv Access with further additions of KykNET & Kie, Via and SuperSport KickOff. They're planning to use Mzansi Wethu (soon to be Wethu+) as a centerpiece for this package.
It is believed that the company rather than discontinuing Mzansi Bioskop and Mzansi Music was likely just infusing these concepts onto the newly rebranded Wethu+. They're also planning to offer a football segment on the channel.
To me this further indication that they want Wethu+ to operate more independently away from Mzansi Magic by removing Mzansi from the name. The symbol "+" has been a trademark used by MultiChoice's parent company, Canal+.
From what's been seen with Novelas+ and M Movies+, this is their way of telling consumers you're getting more out from your subscription. Rather than getting all your assets under one corporate trademark.
Moja Love is also being downgraded to DStv Starter but here's the kicker Moja 9.9. didn't form part of these strings of cancellations at DStv.
With the addition of Moja Love this can only indicate that MultiChoice feels that Moja 9.9. doesn't offer the best of DStv. Unless some restructuring is underway, the channel will be heavily discarded by consumers following the addition of Moja Love.
DStv Starter will cost R99 per month on streaming and R150 per month on decoders.

MultiChoice is planning to also downgrade Mzansi Magic to DStv Family (soon to be DStv Select). This means more DStv consumers will gain access to premium local dramas and reality shows.
Basically what was once seen as a Compact tier is now being widened down for DStv Select consumers. Before Mzansi Magic, DStv Compact had all the kids channels, music channels and even PSL all of which was stripped to DStv Select.
DStv Select will cost R299 on streaming and R339 on decoders.
The world's best football, cricket, local rugby, UFC and WWE action, all in one affordable sports package
After stripping Mzansi Magic and PSL basically what made DStv Compact "the home of Mzansi favourites, the PSL and entertainment the whole family can enjoy". They want to make DStv Compact a standalone sports package, DStv Sports.
DStv Sports is the name they plan to utilize on this package while it will continue to offer Mzansi Magic, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central. The only difference now is that MultiChoice is widening down the reach of certain sporting events.
This would include SuperSport’s Premier League and UEFA content, T20 cricket, local rugby, and one URC match per week.
Majority of sporting events such as Formula One and Moto GP will continue to reside on DStv Premium as they remain core to the package. By doing so, they want to ensure that all packages have value for money and can be competitive.
While this may look deceptive to some DStv consumers, the idea is to offer "the world's best football, cricket...". Majority of African consumers subscribe to the platform for football while other sports are kind of niche at this point.
Aside from sports, the only notable addition on the platform would be the upcoming M Movies+ channel set to replace M-Net Movies 1 and 2. This would give DStv Sports consumers access to all 3 of M-Net's movie newly rebranded channels.
DStv Sports will cost R399 on streaming and R479 on decoders.
Premium movies, binge-worthy series, Mzansi Magic and the PSL all in one entertainment package
Movies & Series appears to be the name of an upcoming package MultiChoice plans to unveil to consumers in the coming weeks. It will comprise mainly of general entertainment brands such as M-Net, M Movies+, BBC Earth and Discovery Channel.
Since 2005, M-Net was tailored mainly for the company's DStv Premium consumers now they're making it affordable with the hopes of obtaining subscribers who wish to not pay for sports.
It should be noted that MultiChoice plans to retain their DStv Premium and Compact+ packages once this rolls out. This is just based on information that has been shared online but if we had to guess DStv Compact+ is taking up borrowed time.
DStv Movies & Series and Sports are being eyed as the potential suitors for DStv Compact+. While the transition for other packages would happen automatically, for these consumers it would reaching out to MultiChoice directly.
My guess is that they'll existing DStv Compact+ consumers a couple of months before bumping them onto DStv Sports seeing as this is the closest they have with the existing sporting lineup.
DStv Movies & Series will cost R500 on streaming and it has yet to be revealed how much it cost on decoders.

MultiChoice is expected to provide more details from September 7th and allegedly more channels are set to be unveiled for these packages. For now, the only other additions are set to be BBC Earth, eReality, eSeries, France24 and 3ABN Africa.
