Channel Closure: Sun TV Will Stop Airing On DStv From 30 September

Sun TV becomes the next victim in Canal+'s MultiChoice aggressive cost cutting with the channel set to be axed on DStv platforms from 30th September 2026. This will be the 5th TV channel removed from the platform within the month.

Other channels set to go dark on DStv later this month include M-Net Movies 2 which merges with M-Net Movies 1 to form M Movies+, KykNET Lekker, Mzansi Music and Mzansi Bioskop. 

DStv viewers had already been alerted that MultiChoice will revamping their DStv Access, Family and Compact packages from 17th September. As mentioned, several channels will be going dark with new additions coming in the mix.

Sun TV was added onto MultiChoice's DStv Indian offering by July 2004 broadcasting Tamil-language movies, serials, news, and entertainment. This would include shows like Pudhu Vasantham, Vanakkam Thamizha, Iru Malargal and Thulasi.

It is consistently ranked as one of the most-watched television channels in India, reaching over 140 million Indian households and distributed across 27 countries including USA, Canada and Europe.
