NO APRIL FOOLS JOKE. eSeries Might Be Making Its DStv Debut

This is no late April fools prank folks apparently Canal+'s MultiChoice might be looking to expand the number of eMedia channels on DStv. This is because the programme guide for eSeries had been spotted on the test channel section of DStv.
eSeries is a general entertainment brand that offers a mixture of drama series already viewed on channels like M-Net and Universal TV. This would include shows like The Equalizer, King Of Queens and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

It also offers other programs like Family Feud, Just For Laughs and MasterChef Australia.

There's no definitive reason as to why MultiChoice would want to add a TV channel where a lot of the content had already been on DStv. But I have a couple of hunches and trust me it would make all the more sense.

MultiChoice will be axing 4 TV channels by mid September which is KykNET Lekker, Mzansi Bioskop, Mzansi Music and M-Net Movies 1. This comes after they had already axed CineMagic and Magic Showcase channels by the end of June.

Maybe eSeries is their way of letting bygones be bygones and taking to account that a lot of this content from the channel had already been viewed on other DStv packages. This would give Access consumers a window to premium entertainment.

Under the previous management of MultiChoice, a channel like eSeries would only be an illusion. But under Canal+, it shouldn't come as a surprise after the inclusion of Sporty TV as they've been notorious for bundling content from rival broadcasters.

Aside from eSeries, MultiChoice is rumoured to be adding France24 English and possibly Spanish to their platforms. Both these channels can also be viewed on Openview platforms across South Africa.
