They've also been running up new domains for this service which is likely to replace the existing ones taken up by DStv and GOtv. So far, no content has been added on the site but dedicated sections appear for movies, series and cartoons.
Canal+ app serves as the equivalent of DStv Stream but what Canal+ has done is added some enhancements. This would include bundling content from other streaming services such as Netflix as seen in Canal+ Afrique territories.
Under previous management, MultiChoice only offered this to consumers using the DStv Explora Ultra and this would come with additional costs. While Canal+ on the other hand offered discounts or incentives to users of the Canal+ app.
DStv Stream had also been testing out potential packages known as DStv Movie Bundle, Deluxe Entertainment and Select Sports. It remains unclear what the purpose of this offerings are or whether they'll form part of this Canal+ offering.
Since last year, MultiChoice has talked about wanting to restructure its packages for sometime and falling behind with other countries. In the UK and select markets, various pay-tv providers had already offered such services to consumers.
MultiChoice that has been in the red for several years with it's DStv offering was hoping this new offering would help them retain consumers. But since Canal+'s acquisition, there hasn't been much updates on where things stand for this offering.
We can only assume that Canal+ likely wants to debut this service before taking that next step with DStv.
MultiChoice has lost about 11 channels during the year and a portion of these brands were allocated on DStv Easyview. This package has since then been depriortised so we can only assume that Canal+ may be looking to discontinue it eventually.
Same goes for DStv Compact+, it was competing with DStv Premium by offering KykNET and select premium sporting events at a fraction of the price. Not to mention, Canal+ has been more focused on attracting consumers on cheaper packages.
They've added Base Pulse, Novelas+ and Sporty TV on DStv Access while these packages only got what the option to share their bill with another person.
