Could Novelas+ Derail KykNET's International Telenovelas?

Canal+ will be rolling out Novelas+ to the DStv platform in the coming weeks with the channel that is set to boast Turkish dramas. This would give eExtra's Kuiertyd, a much stronger contender not only in the Turkish game but Afrikaans as well.

Post the takeover, KykNET served as the other contender and for sometime they introduced various telenovelas through its KykNET & Kie channel. This includes Kind Van Die Noodlot, My Naam Is Farah and In Die Ysterhand Se Greep.

With Novelas+ being added to the platform soon don't be surprised if some of these shows eventually popped up as "premieres" to the channel.

Since Zee Zonke's inception, Zee Entertainment Enterprises has been using Zee One to air these shows. There's no reason to doubt that the same outcome won't await KykNET & Kie with Novelas+.

KykNET & Kie has a tight schedule and knowing how telenovela channels operate as the variety isn't as wide (e.g. Telemundo). This would give shows like My Naam Is Farah an open window for those who missed out when the show came on.

Canal+ will likely have to move cautiously if they opt to have two channels boast Turkish dramas and this would mean no duplicates as seen with Landman. Give consumers a reason to still tune into KykNET & Kie despite Novelas+ presence on the platform.
