This offering was introduced back in September 2020 and was meant to give low tiered packages access to premium movie channels. This included M-Net Movies 1 and 2, fliekNET (permanent addition) and future M-Net Movies pop-up channels.
In recent years, this offering has been radically reduced with fliekNET that reverted back to being a pop-up channel and with M-Net Movies pop-up that got consolidated into M-Net Movies 2. Most signs point toward AddMovies being discontinued.
There's barely been much promotion coming from MultiChoice and M-Net on AddMovies. While attempts had been made to supplement the offering on M-Net Movies pop-up, Zee Cinema much less Sony Max haven't been getting much hype.
How many AddMovies customers even watched Zee Cinema and Sony Max???
The last time MultiChoice ever reported on AddMovies consumer numbers, they were sitting around the thousands range (which is kind of depressing). These numbers likely plummeted as MultiChoice hiked the prices for its DStv packages.
New Movie Bundle Might Be In Development
As reported, MultiChoice might be looking to replace AddMovies with two separate add-on features, Select Movies and DStv Movie Bundle. Several DStv consumers in select African markets had spotted this add-ons on the DStv's website.
No channels are listed at the moment but from what we can divulge it appears MultiChoice may looking to unbundle not only bundle it's sports channels from the DStv offering but movie channels as well.
Post the takeover, MultiChoice had been exploring the possibility of unbundling certain services from DStv including SuperSport. They were planning to elaborate on the matter earlier in the year but since then they remained silent.
We can only assume that they're test conducting further tests considering these add-ons appear on DStv Stream website.
