Canal+ Afrique Removes Several TV Channels

Canal+ Afrique serves as MultiChoice's francophone counterpart broadcasting in the central and western parts of Africa. Following the acquisition of MultiChoice, it appears Canal+ is looking to align the offering on these platforms with that of MultiChoice.

Several English based channels like English Club TV, W-Sport, A+ Kids and Bloomberg Originals have been removed from the platform. Since then, Canal+ had replaced some of these services with regional channels if not MultiChoice based channels.

This would include Maisha Magic East, Maisha Magic Plus, Africa Magic Yoruba, Africa Magic Hausa and SuperSport WWE.

The only English based channels existing outside that of MultiChoice platforms would be Love Nature, Africa24 English and NBA TV. It wouldn't surprise me if these channels were to resurface on DStv with the company now looking to add France24.

MultiChoice will also be axing 4 TV channels in the coming months including M-Net Movies 1, KykNET Lekker, Mzansi Bioskop and Mzansi Music. As part of Canal+'s ongoing restructure at the company with them aiming to save up R7.5 billion by 2030.

Similar to Canal+ Afrique, they've also been sourcing out African based channels with Zacu TV and Maboke TV that launched in MultiChoice Africa territories. Then there's also the inclusion of Base Pulse from Paramount Africa's former bosses.
