If anyone can remember this particular period, M-Net Movies 2 was positioned as an action infused movie channel while M-Net Movies 1 had everything else. These two serving as premium channels had all of the newer releases.
Fast forward to 2024/5, M-Net Movies 1 becomes the movie equivalent of M-Net and is home to the newer releases while M-Net Movies 2 is now second fiddle alongside M-Net Movies 3 and 4.
Rather than M-Net Movies restricting themselves to particular genres they're now using the same playbook as SuperSport Variety. In it's previous structure, it meant certain movies will be put on an endless loop with this version its randomised.
M-Net Movies 1 is now essentially carrying the weight of the other 3 movie channels - M-Net's equivalent. M-Net Movies 2 is basically an events channel or what M-Net Movies pop-up used to be while M-Net Movies 3 and 4 remain the same.
Now that these channels are under French management one does have to wonder whether they'll maintain this current structure. In most Canal+ territories, it's movie offering being FilmBox and Canal+ Cinema still maintain the old structure.
